Water Corporation - Esperance Borefield Control System

HIGHLIGHTS

Borefield comprising of 35 bore sites

Operated from Control Centre via 10.5" QuickPanel operator interface

Radio telemetry link to bore sites

INTRODUCTION

The Esperance borefield comprises of three tanks, two transfer pumping stations and 32 bores.

System design and implementation of the telemetry system was awarded to Industrial Automation in late 1998, to control the existing network of bores, remotely, from the Water Corporation depot at Esperance.

EQUIPMENT USED

Koyo series 205 PLC

10.5" colour touch screen
(QuickPanel by Total Control)

IA telemetry equipment

SCOPE

The telemetry system comprises of a series of PLCs networked together using IA595F radio modems. The system is monitored from the depot through a 10.5" colour touch panel Operator Interface.

The master PLC at the depot, interogates each PLC in turn using Modbus protocol. With an engineered routine to poll the PLCs, each PLC get a chance to send data to the master station every 30 seconds.

The borefield has been running satisfactory on automatic control since May 1999.
